Here’s what is coming up at Forsyth Public Library:

Monday, June 3 @ 10 a.m. ~ Zumba Party

The world’s most popular group exercise class is coming to the library! Join us for Zumba every Monday in June and July from 10-11 a.m. in the community room with instructor Jenny Ahlswede. From beginners to advanced, all adults and teens are welcome. Please wear tennis shoes and clothes suitable for workout.

Monday, June 3 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. drop-in ~ Scavenger Hunt

Stop by each Monday in June and July for a QR Code scavenger hunt. Discover new clues at the library each week for a chance to win a prize! Once you crack the clue, use a device to scan the QR code. The scavenger hunts are open to all ages and no registration is necessary. 


Monday, June 3 @ 11:30 a.m. ~ Community Watch

Community Watch will meet on Monday, June 3 at 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room at Forsyth Public Library for a potluck meal and entertainment by the First Presbyterian String Band, featuring folk tunes, civil war music, and old-time gospel classics. Fried chicken will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. Community Watch is open to everyone and no reservations are required.


Tuesday, June 4 @ 10 a.m.~ Larry Reed Memorial Youth Garden

Beautify the library by helping the Garden Club of Decatur plant flowers in our garden.This year’s garden is in memory of Larry Reed, long-time supporter of the library’s youth garden. Macon County Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension Program will be here to help participants make Pollinator Growing Cards to take home. All ages are welcome and no registration is required! In case of rain, activities will be postponed until Friday, June 7.


Tuesday, June 4 @ 2 p.m. ~ Big Bang Bubbles

This remarkable show takes ordinary bubbles into the realm of extreme! Prepare to be amazed by the dazzling demonstrations and experiments.

Weds. June 5 @ 9:30 a.m. ~ Baby TALK

Families with children ages birth to 3 are invited to our Baby TALK sessions on Wednesdays throughout the year from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Baby TALK is free with no registration required.


Weds June 5 @ 1 p.m. ~ Teen Shadow Puppets

Create paper puppets and practice making hand shadow puppets, then use what you make and learn to entertain your family and friends! Please register in advance.


Thurs. June 6 @ 12:30 or 2:30~ Comedy/Tragedy Masks

Join Jennifer Stout to create comedy and tragedy masks. Ages 6 and up, please register in advance

Friday, June 7 @ 10 a.m. ~ Story Time – Bumbling Bugs

Story Time fun for ages 2-5. No registration required and siblings are welcome.

Sat. June 8 @ 10 a.m. ~ Crankie Creations

Long before movies and TV, artists would paint scenes on scrolls and unfurl them to reveal a story. If you are 6 or older, grab an adult and come create a mini “crankie” and use it to tell your very own story! Please register in advance.
