Historical Society Cards and Calendars
The Forsyth/Hickory Point Township Historical Society, in their efforts to educate the present generations and memorialize the past, have produced a set of postcards with existing remnants of the past.

The scenes on the cards will be repeated in the 3rd Annual Historical society calendar offered for sale on or before Oct. 9, 2003.

Cards and calendars may be ordered from the Historical Society at Box 352, Forsyth, IL 62535, at a cost of $7.00 for calendars and $0.50 each for postcards. The may also be purchased at the following locations; Kay's Boutique, The Book Barn, Maroa-Forsyth Community Bank, and Village Hall, all in Forsyth.


The only remaining commercial structure in Forsyth. Prior to 1980, a Post Office and grocery store were located in the brick building shown. It was built before 1915 replacing an earlier frame building, which housed a grocery store built in 1906 that was destroyed by fire.


The Hays' family plot located on a hillside east of Rt. 51 and south of Mound Rd. near Steven Decatur Middle School. The oldest grave dates back to 1844. The stones mark the graves of descendants of H. Hays, and early settler on whose property the cemetary was placed.


A pastoral scene on a farm 1/2 mile northwest of Forsyth. Note the rich black soil of the field in the background. The pasture scene is highlighted on the calendar by the addition of a hologram of Black Bart, a local gentleman banditwhose home was located on the same farm.


This unusual corn crib is located on the Sibthorp farm in hickory Point township. It is about 75 years old.
