Introduction
The collection development policy of the
Forsyth Public Library sets forth the Library’s collection management
goals and practices, and serves to inform Forsyth residents and library
users
about
the principles
upon which selection decisions are made and by whom. It also provides
guidance to all library staff members who share responsibility for working
with the library’s collections. To insure its continued relevance
and applicability, this policy is subject to annual review by the Forsyth
Public Library Advisory Committee. Collection management refers to all
decisions and processes that are involved in the selection, purchase,
retention, replacement or withdrawal of the print and non-print materials
that comprise the library’s collection. |
