The Forsyth Public Library cordially invites you to join in the Summer Reading Program and “READ ON THE WILD SIDE.” Registration for the eight-week program begins May 26th in the library. We’ve planned great prizes, programs and fun activities again this year for participants of all ages, pre-school thru adult. The Summer Reading Program is a 26-year Forsyth tradition that predates the Forsyth library building itself. And no wonder, there’s nothing like a good book when you’re seeking a little summer escape to adventure, mystery or romance. For the youngest explorers, our toddler program, the “Littles,” is the perfect introduction to Forsyth’s summer reading traditions. With specially selected prizes and age appropriate programs on Thursday mornings in June, “Littles” is a can’t miss good time for the 2-5 set. And “Littles” are always welcome at the Tuesday programs along with moms, dads, brothers and sisters. School age children (ages 6-12) will enjoy the “Middles” Reading Program, which this year will feature animal adventures and fun. Teens are invited to take part in the Teen Reading Program with its own format and activities, including opportunities to volunteer in the library. Participation in the Summer Reading Program is open to all Forsyth residents, including parents, grandmas, grandpas and neighbors. We always have a special prize for adult participants who complete 60 hours of reading. Families are heartily encouraged to make the summer reading program a family affair. Participating along with your children is a great way to let them know that reading isn’t just an important skill that requires practice, it’s also a source of genuine pleasure for all ages. Registration begins at the library on Tuesday May 26; the last day to receive prizes is August 1. Tuesday afternoon programs begin June 2 with our special kick-off featuring “The Bassmeister,” with Mojo, the talking salmon. Tuesday afternoon programs are entertaining and informative and require no registration. Beginning June 9, “Middles” readers can enter the drawing for our weekly “Safari Guide” prize. Readers who reach a new reading level and are in attendance at the program. Other, more specialized programs require registration; watch for details in program descriptions. The Summer Reading Program is open to all Forsyth residents and to children who attended grades K-3 at the Forsyth location of Maroa-Forsyth Grade School during the 2008-2009 school year. Check out the programs on these pages and on our website, forsythlibrary.com and mark your calendars. You won’t want to miss a thing! Questions? Call the library at 877-8174. |
