Tuesday Programs

All ages; no registration required.

June 8
Serengeti Steve’s Reptile Experience
2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
We’ll kick off the summer scaring up some big fun as Seregenti Steve - the “Reptile Guy” - makes his first appearance in Forsyth, along with lots of creepy crawly critters to entertain & delight.  Alligators, anacondas, lizards, tarantulas… we’ll learn about these and other fascinating creatures that may seem scary at first, but aren’t so bad once you get to know them.  This program will be held in the park behind the library.  BYO lawn chair if you would like.

June 15
Elsenpeter Marionettes Presents: The Wizard of Oz
2:00- 3:00 p.m.
We’re off to see the Wizard!  Well, actually, the wizard is coming to us when Richard Elsenpeter presents this classic story.  Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and all the rest will be on hand to meet and greet everyone up close and personal.  Follow the yellow brick road to the stage, sit back and enjoy the show!

June 22
Scary Stories with Dan Keding
 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Master storyteller Dan Keding knows how to scare up an afternoon of song and storytelling fun about things that go bump in the night.  His collection of traditional folk tales promises to chill & thrill just enough to leave us wanting more.   Dim the lights and let the frights begin…

June 29
Wet & Wild – the Water Show
2:00-3:00 p.m.

Zany Don Miller returns to Forsyth with just two things in mind – making us laugh and getting us wet!  Join us at the pavilion in the park behind the library.  Children should dress in swimming attire because spritzed, sprinkled, sprayed, or blasted, everyone is certain to get wet!   Parents - a “dry zone” will be provided for those who absolutely prefer to remain dry.  You might want to bring a lawn chair to sit on and a towel to dry off your children.  Let’s hope we have a nice hot day for this activity, but if not, an indoor version will be presented, so don’t let bad weather discourage you.  It’s not scary – just soaking!

July 6
Forsyth’s OwnZombie Idol”
2:00-3:00 p.m
We know Forsyth’s got talent and we’ll prove it at our first-ever talent show/contest for kids.  Whether it’s singing or playing an instrument, children ages 6 + can enter as individuals or groups to vie for prizes.  But there’s a CATCH – this contest is for zombies, ghouls, & monsters, so everyone who performs must dress as some kind of scary creature.  To make it even more fun, audience members are also invited to come dressed in creepy attire (but please, no masks or truly horrifying make-up).  Guidelines for participation are available at the circulation desk. A limit of 9 acts can be accepted.  All acts must be pre-registered no later than June 28.

July 13
The Magic of Reading with Chris Egelston
2:00-3:00 p.m.
Our summer line up of programs wouldn’t be complete without a MAGIC show, and this year Chris Egelston, magician extraordinaire, returns to amaze and entertain with plenty of new tricks up his sleeve.  Say the magic words and join us for hilarious fun and learning with lots of audience participation!

July 20
Scare Fair!
2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Our very popular “Fun Fair” of 2008 returns, this time as a “creepy carnival,” complete with silly Halloween-style games like Ghostbusters, Spider Smackdown, Fishing at the Black Lagoon, as well as special prize raffles and snack bar.  Note: several adults are needed to run the games, serve refreshments and help disassemble games following the program.  To volunteer, contact children’s librarian Lorraine Getty.

July 27
Munchin’ & Truckin’ @ the Library
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

It’s positively frightening how fast the time went this summer!  But our programs are at an end, and it’s time to scare up lunch, prizes and games.  We’ll meet in the community room of the library for lunch and grand prizes, then - weather permitting – we’ll step outside for fun and games.  As a special attraction, Rusty Foster of Harristown will display his awesome 1992 Chevrolet Monster Truck, “Captain America” for all to enjoy.  Measuring a total of 11 feet tall and weighing 16,000 pounds, this truck is a sight you won’t want to miss!
