|
Maria Dent, discussion leader for the book group that meets one Friday a month at Forsyth Public Library, has announced the selections that will carry the group through the next two months. On August 22 each member of the group will read and share a nonfiction selection his or her choice. Then, on September 26, the group will discuss "A Thousand Splendid Suns" the story of two women confronting the horrors of present day life in a changing Afghanistan. |

Get in the Game - Really! |
There’s a new game to play in the children’s area of the library. It’s called “Are You Smarter than a Summer Reader?” and it’s got a little bit of everything. Players roll the dice to move ahead on the life-size game board and answer questions that cover three categories – sports and games, books and authors, and summer reading programs. Correct answers earn the contestant “library bucks,” and of course the object is to earn as much money as possible. But like most games, there’s some curve balls thrown in as well, so occasionally a player gets to increase his earnings, take an extra turn, switch places with another player, or lose a turn. Upon completion of the game, players are invited to record their scores on the game board.
So the next time you’re in the library, check out the fun! Find out if YOU are “smarter than a summer reader!” If you’re not, you will be by the time you finish the game!

What's Happening @ the Library |
The final Art Academy class meets Wednesday July 23, with Jenny Cowgill leading students in a celebration of collage. All completed artwork will be displayed at Forsyth’s 50th Anniversary celebration at the Park on Saturday, July 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Children ages 5 and up are invited to attend "Take Me Out to the….Movie" on Thursday July 24 from 1:00-3:00. We’ll be showing the Disney PG movie Air Bud and serving refreshments. No registration is required.
Is it the end of Summer Reading already? Join us for our end-of-summer Party at the Park from 11:00-1:00 at the Forsyth Park. Lunch will be served, the Park Staff will lead us in games, and grand prize winners will be named. In case of inclement weather, this program will be held at the library. No registration is required.
For more information about any of our upcoming programs, click on the Summer Reading icon at the right of this screen. If you have questions about programs or summer reading in general, contact children’s librarian Lorraine Getty at lgettyfpl@yahoo.com.
