Summer Reading has started and here's what's happening at the library this week:

We can't wait to start our summer of fun at the Summer Reading Kick Off Party - Saturday, May 31 from 10 AM - 12 PM - with outdoor painting, sidewalk chalk, giant bubbles and the Absolute Science Mega Foam Blaster!

Design Your Own Slap Bracelet
Saturday, June 7 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
All Ages Welcome - No Registration Required
Are the kids bored already? Bring them into the library to design their very own Slap Bracelet. We’ll have markers, gems, stickers and more they can use to create an awesome bit of summer bling to wear and take home.
Craft available while supplies last.

Gamer Designs Perler Beads Drop-in
Thursday, June 5 - 10:00 a.m.
No Registration Required
With Perler beads, you can make key chains, backpack clips, magnets and so much more. FPL has lots of patterns to choose from, including many of your favorite video game characters, or you can create your own colorful designs.
All ages are welcome to design with us. Library staff will do the melting portion for safety reasons. We hope to see you there!

Summer Reading Registration has begun!
Register yourself, your kids or the whole family next time you stop into FPL. All we need from you is a little ink on paper and you're ready to start the Reading Challenge! When you're in the library, be sure to check out the Grand Prizes this year. Those who finish all their levels will be able to enter the drawing for their age group and possibly win something awesome! Also, don't forget to grab a Summer Reading calendar so you don't miss any of our fantastic events and programs. There's sure to be something for everyone at the Forsyth Public Library.

Do Art Productions

Do Art Productions aims to inspire creativity within everyone by bringing their usual multimedia approach - playing live music, drawing interactively and more. They choose members of the audience to participate, as well as aim for total engagement through the different avenues of creative entertainment they provide. It’s going to be a great time so Do bring the family!

Oil Pastel Mini Painting Drop-in
Monday, June 2 - 10:00 a.m.
No Registration Required
Join us at the library for our first 2025 Summer Reading Program drop-in! We’ll have mini canvases and colorful oil pastels for anyone who wishes to put their imagination to good use and design a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Don’t worry if you feel your artistic talent is limited - there is no wrong way to get creative!
All ages are welcome to Van Gogh for it!

Beautify the library by helping the Garden Club of Decatur plant flowers! You may even take away a few gardening tips.
All ages are welcome to participate. *Rain date is Friday, May 30 at 10:00 a.m.

2025 Summer Reading Registration is almost here! Come in beginning Tuesday, May 27 during regular library hours and register the whole family, if you choose, for our Summer Reading Challenge. The Summer Reading Kick-Off Party featuring Absolute Science and their MegaFoam Blaster takes place on Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Most of our activities this year are drop-ins, however we do still have a few that require signing up. Our Tuesday programs - as always - are open to all ages and will make for some awesome summer memories.

Play-doh Play, Yo!
Saturday, May 24 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
All Ages Welcome
Bring your creativity and sculpting skills in for a few hours of molding fun. We have over two dozen colors to work with and a lot of cool tools. Come in and enjoy that special Play-doh texture and scent while squeezing, pinching, and mooshing your way to a cool new creation.

The Forsyth Public Library is looking for teen volunteers to help with our Summer Reading 2025 program!
Volunteers should be 13 - 18 years old and available to assist weekly at the library. All volunteers are expected to attend the Tuesday afternoon programs. You may also sign up to help with our kick off and wrap up parties as well as smaller craft classes if you are available.
Volunteers will get receive a Summer Reading shirt and frequent snacks :) The library will also provide you with a letter verifying your volunteer experience. We can also sign specific NHS or other volunteer forms as needed.
There will be a mandatory Teen Volunteer Training on Tuesday, May 27 from 2 - 2:30 PM. We will discuss volunteer expectations, go through the schedule and answer any questions you may have.
