The weather hasn't been very cooperative this summer, but we're finally getting a start on Story Time at the Park! Join Michelle at the Main Park near the stage (just down the hill from the big playground) for stories and fun. Our theme for this week is Oceans with fun stories and a tasty edible craft. All ages are welcome!


Today is Messtival 2025 and the day promises to be as much messy fun as last year. We'll have some repeat events and a few new ones, as well. Be sure to dress accordingly because we promise you won't leave clean. After all, it's Messtival 2025!


We're hiring! Please share widely and help us find an amazing Youth Services Librarian to join our team at Forsyth Public Library.
Forsyth Public Library is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Youth Services Librarian. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can enthusiastically engage with children and families and provide top-notch programming opportunities. Excellent communication skills are a must.
The preferred candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working with children and families. Library experience is a plus but not required. This is a permanent position, averaging 30-35 hours per week. The anticipated schedule will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:40 AM – 5 PM and Wednesdays from 8:00 AM – 2 PM with 1-2 scheduled Saturdays per month from 8:30 AM – 1 PM. Anticipated salary will be $18.50+/hr dependent on experience.
The Youth Services Librarian will:
Plan and lead weekly Story Time and Toddler Time activities as well as monthly Kids’ Club offerings, Summer Reading programming and family-friendly drop-in activities
Assist in coordinating outreach initiatives to area schools and organizations and represent FPL at community events
Evaluate and select youth and young adult print and non-print materials to ensure a diverse and thoughtful collection
Provide reader’s advisory for youth and young adults, suggest materials to suit specific needs or interests, and assist youth, young adults and parents in locating materials
Create displays, bulletin boards, and other visual enhancements for the library
Exhibit excellent customer service at all times
Assist patrons at the circulation desk, on the phone, and via email
Other tasks as required

Design Your Own Poke' Ball

Hey, all you Pokemon Trainers! Come in and design your own Poke’ Ball! We’ll have all the necessary supplies, including paint sticks, washi tape, stickers and a wooden craft ball. We’ll even have a picture of various Poke’ Balls to help get you inspired. All ages of trainers are welcome to get creative at the library so you can Catch ‘Em All!


True Crime Club
3rd Tuesday of each Month
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. - Ages 18+
No Registration Required
Our True Crime Club takes place the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 and is open to adults 18 and up. For June, we’ll be meeting on Tuesday, June 17.
Join us for an interesting night of True Crime Trivia. Test your knowledge of serial killers past and present, heinous murders, fictional books, television and movies, as well as general criminal activity across the board. The True Crime Club attendee with the most points will be awarded a nifty prize.

Sculpt to your heart’s content at our Play-doh Drop-in. Create a one-eyed monster, a many-colored unicorn or a rainbow pizza - let your imagination go wherever it takes you. Kids and kids at heart are welcome to mold, pinch and smoosh their way to a cool creation.


DON'T FORGET! Story Time at the Park will be held at the library today due to the weather. Bring the kids at 10:00 a.m. and enjoy stories with Miss Michelle as well as an edible craft!


Family Game Day

Join us at Forsyth Public Library for a fun and exciting Nailed it! Challenge for ages 10 and up. Test your skills and creativity as you recreate a delicious Minion treat. Don't worry if you're not a pro, this event is all about having fun! Register by June 23 as spots are limited. Due to the type of program and skills being taught, we MUST insist that the age group be strictly adhered to - we will not be able to allow anyone under 10 to participate.

Curious about your family history? Join us next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Forsyth Public Library for a hands-on class on using Ancestry.com for genealogy research. We'll cover beginner tips and tricks to help you get started. A few library computers will be available, but feel free to bring your own laptop if you have one! If you can’t make the class, one-on-one sessions with Forsyth Historical Archivist, Tina Horve, can be scheduled with you at another time.

Window Painting Drop-in OUTDOORS!
Wednesday Mornings
June 11 & 25 - July 9
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Every other Wednesday beginning June 11 through July 9, our custom-made Window Painting panels will be outside in front of the library for anyone to enjoy. We’ll have lots of bright paint colors and brushes to create cool art with. Want to try something else? Grab a spray bottle of water and a squeegee, clean off the window and start over again.
